1.
I was washed up on yr doorstep, waiting for the flood waters to recede. All that's left of me dragging cast-off plans and dreams. Sometimes, that's all you need. I was crawling in the dark for years before I ever knew where I was. Between the two of us, there's just too much to discuss. But, we've got all night, so what's yr rush?
2.
When they pulled you from the water, did you have very much to say? Do you remember that September? Did it get lost along the way? Everybody wants to end up somebody's best friend someday. But, for some of us, we discover that there's just no fucking way. Like, back then, it was hard enough just to get shit done. But, trust me, Wendy, when I tell you, "Tramps like us, we were born to run." And, when we left, we left with nothing, and we crossed over that state line. I almost passed to THE SWEET HEREAFTER. It wasn't the first time I'd tried. Everybody wants to end up with some life they think they can stand. Some metafiction that we can live in: "some red-handed sleight of hand." Now, I wonder what you're up to all the time. I wrote this song you can sing along to. I just can't think of the lines.

When they pulled me from the water, I didn't have very much to say. But, I remember that September and those things you wrote to me. I always thought that we would end up, you and me, best friends someday. But then, lover, I discovered there was just no fucking way. Like, back then, it was hard enough just to get shit done. But, trust me, baby, when I tell you that it only happened once. October came. We moved to Brunswick Street, 4R of the 145. You almost passed to THE SWEET HEREAFTER. I almost wish you'd more than tried. Everybody wants to end up with some life they think they can stand. But, then, they realize that this is REAL LIFE, and those dreams never had a chance. Now, I wonder what you're up to every day. And, then I realize it's been a long time. It doesn't matter anyway.

You were washed up on my doorstep, waiting for the flood waters to recede. Up to 193 (St.) dragging cast-off plans and dreams. Sometimes, that's all you need. I said "yes", and you said "yes." And, the deal was done, whatever it was. Between the two of us, there's just too much to discuss. But, we've got our whole lives, so what's yr rush?
